Professor Clive Finlayson MBE has been appointed to the Board of Governors of the University of Gibraltar.
Professor Clive Finlayson is an eminent academic who is recognised internationally as a leader in his field. He is the Director of the Gibraltar National Museum and also has the specific roles of Chief Scientist and Curator. He has a first class honours degree in Zoology from the University of Liverpool and the degree of Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Oxford. He is also Master of Science in Museum Studies from the University of Leicester. He was elected a Member of the Academia Europaea in 2010.
Professor Finlayson’s research interests are varied and include human evolution and avian biogeography. He has written eight books and co-authored three others and has published with Oxford University Press, Cambridge University Press and Bloomsbury. He has a large list of papers and articles to his name.
Professor Finlayson was awarded the MBE in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours in 2003.
The Government congratulates Professor Finlayson on his appointment. "He will enrich the Board of Governors and will undoubtedly make a very valuable contribution to the University".
