Bedenham Explosion
BackBedenham Explosion
On this day (27th April) in 1951, the Naval Armament vessel, formerly RFA Bedenham, exploded while docked at Gun Wharf as depth charges were being unloaded. The explosion killed 13 people and caused a great deal of damage to the town.
