New Stamps Issued To Commemorate Gorham's Cave Complex UNESCO World Heritage Site
HM Government of Gibraltar and the Gibraltar Philatelic Bureau have issued a set of five stamps commemorating the inscription of the Gorham's Cave Complex onto the UNESCO World Heritage list.
Gorham's Cave is a natural sea cave in Gibraltar and regarded as one of the last known homes of the Neanderthals in Europe.
The set of stamps has been prepared in collaboration with The Gibraltar Museum, and feature photographs taken by Stewart Finlayson depicting:
- Moonrise at Gorham’s Cave;
- Gorham’s Cave archaeological excavation;
- A view of the entire World Heritage Site from the sea;
- Gibraltar Neanderthals; and
- Neanderthal engraving.
